Hi Jimmy,
Def Leppard had a sea container filled with old gear from the 80's
that sat in a shipping company yard for 8 years in Dublin, Ireland. It
contained a couple of Rick "Sav" Savage's old Hamer Blitz bass' from
back in the day. We all know how rainy the Emerald Isle is, and the
container developed a leak at some point. This bass of Sav's sat in a
water soaked case for a number of years and deteriorated rapidly.
Fast forward to 2009. The long forgotten sea container is opened and
the sad sight is revealed. The case foam around the bass has bonded
with the finish and the hardware has corroded. The frets are quite
literally green. I asked Wolfie "do we have any Gorgomyte around?"
Sure enough, we had some in my B-Rig. Here are the results of
using just Gorgomyte and a terry cloth towel to wipe off after use......
